residency.ch, PROGR - Zentrum für Kulturproduktion, Bern, CH
1 - 31 April 2017
In April 2017 we engaged in cross-cultural arts-orientated networking in Bern at residency.ch hosted by the PROGR Art Centre. The residency aimed to research the local arts scene(s) and to forge transcultural productive connections between artists from the UK, Poland and Switzerland. More specifically, we worked with Konrad Smoleński on a new commission - a performance and accompanying sound installation inspired by and partaken in by the Greek composer, Yannis Kyriakides.
PROGR is an arts centre located in the centre of Bern; it consists of ateliers, art production facilities, event spaces and numerous culturally geared smaller institutions who reside and work there. The residency.ch apartment is on the top floor of the PROGR building. Situating residency.ch within the PROGR enables visiting artists, local artists and different curators to access and engage with the programme; the building is essentially a headquarter for arts and creative activity in Bern and thus formed a central “hub” from which the research investigating the local arts scene could be conducted.
